Composites

National Composites excels in advanced composite manufacturing, offering a broad spectrum of techniques including state-of-the-art Robotic Open Mold and traditional methods, along with expertise in Composites – Light Resin Transfer Molding (LRTM), which utilizes a vacuum to draw resin into the mold, and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), where resin is injected under pressure, ensuring precision and quality in every product. The company’s repertoire also encompasses Liquid Compression Molding (LCM) and Sheet Molding Compound (SMC), complemented by a specialized painting division for a full-service approach to diverse composite applications.

Open Mold

Open molding is a fundamental process in the composites industry and is one of the primary techniques we employ at National Composites. The method involves directly applying liquid resin along with reinforcement materials, typically fiberglass, onto a single-sided mold. This allows for the creation of a wide range of shapes and sizes. Given its simplicity and versatility, open molding is an effective method to produce consistent and durable composite components. As we prioritize both efficiency and quality, National Composites continues to utilize open molding as a key technique in our manufacturing repertoire.

Robotic Open Mold

In response to the growing demand for versatile manufacturing solutions and consistent product quality, robotic open molding has emerged as a leading technique, especially for high-volume open molding projects. Driven by the need for uniform cycle times and the pursuit of impeccable finished products, this advanced approach employs robotic mechanisms. As a result, it offers superior control over material application and part thickness, ensuring optimal precision and consistency throughout the production process.

LRTM & RTM

At National Composites, the utilization of Light Resin Transfer Molding (LRTM) and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) signifies our commitment to leveraging advanced molding techniques. LRTM, known for its efficient resin-to-fiber ratios, and RTM, celebrated for its capability to produce intricate, high-strength parts, both play a pivotal role in our composite manufacturing process. These methods allow us to cater to diverse client needs, ensuring precision, strength, and quality in every product, further underscoring our position as leaders in the composite industry.

LCM

At National Composites, Liquid Compression Molding (LCM) showcases our commitment to pioneering manufacturing techniques. LCM, a process adept for producing non-cosmetic components like under-hood parts and internal structures. This method is crucial for fabricating parts that, while not focused on aesthetics, require precise resin distribution for functional integrity and cost-effectiveness. Our integration of LCM allows us to offer clients sturdy inter-structure stiffeners and durable components with a consistently high-quality finish, affirming our dedication to providing superior, yet economical, non-cosmetic composite solutions in the industry.

SMC

Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) is a pivotal element of National Composites' suite of advanced manufacturing capabilities, offering a scalable solution for high-volume production. As a pre-consolidated, glass-fiber reinforced polyester material, SMC excels in compression molding, allowing us to fabricate components that boast intricate designs and superior strength-to-weight ratios with impeccable surface finishes. Our proficiency in SMC, particularly with the addition of our state-of-the-art SMC Press, underscores our ability to deliver consistent quality at a pace that aligns with the demanding volumes of our clients, solidifying our reputation for excellence and efficiency in the composite industry.

Paint

At National Composites, our proficiency extends beyond molding to the art and science of painting composites. Recognizing the unique challenges and requirements of composite materials, we have honed our painting processes to ensure adhesion, durability, and aesthetic excellence. Our advanced paint systems cater specifically to the nuances of composite surfaces, guaranteeing finishes that are not only visually striking but also resistant to environmental factors and wear. By integrating our knowledge of composites with specialized painting techniques, National Composites delivers finished products that exemplify both functionality and aesthetic appeal in the composite sector.
