National Composites welcomes two new production facilities

Over 2019 National Composites has seen large growth within the markets we currently serve as well as new markets. We are excited to announce that in 2020 National Composites will have two more production facilities under its umbrella. The addition of these facilities will increase our production capacity, diversify our molding capabilities, and increase our value to our customers, becoming a one-stop-shop for all their composite needs. Below is some information on all the newly partnered companies.

National Composites’ first production facility, Great Lakes Composite, a 90,000 sqft production facility utilizes multiple different molding techniques, the primary being open mold spray-up and light RTM. The others include RTM, CCBM (bag molding), and compression molding. National Composites’ core customer base is Marine and Recreation with eight OEMs in this classification. The other markets currently being served include transportation, agriculture, and utilities.

Excel Pattern and Tool is our new facility specializing in patterns, production tooling, production fixtures, and prototyping. The key members of this facility have over 100 years of experience in their field. This 20,000 sqft facility has two 5 axis CNCs with a working envelope of 20x14x6 as well as CMM capabilities. Excel provides engineering development and design in UG-NX and Solidworks, plus reverse engineering and product validation/inspection through FARO Arm probing and scanning.

Molded Plastic Industries (MPI) opened its doors in 1974, as a manufacturer of fiberglass reinforced products. This 60,000 sqft ISO certified facility has multiple molding capabilities including compression molding, RTM, open molding, and thermo/vacuum forming. MPI is currently serving the Military, Transportation, and Medical markets. MPI is lead by an extremely experienced production and leadership staff. We are excited to have them join the National team.
